About this course
Alberta's Biology 20 has four units: energy and matter exchange in the biosphere; ecosystems and population change; photosynthesis and cellular respiration; and human systems. The last one is 40% of the course on its own, so it is split here into three — digestion, circulation and gas exchange, and excretion and movement — and photosynthesis and respiration get a unit each. Together the seven cover the whole course.
There is no diploma exam in Grade 11, so Biology 20 is marked entirely by your school. It is the prerequisite for Biology 30, and the ideas that come back hardest next year are cell processes, feedback and the systems work in Unit D.
