About this course
Alberta's Science 10 has four units: energy and matter in chemical change; energy flow in technological systems; cycling of matter in living systems; and energy flow in global systems. The chemistry unit is split here into atoms and compounds, and the energy unit into work and heat, because each half carries a full unit's worth. The six units cover the whole course.
Science 10 is the gate. It is the prerequisite for Biology 20, Chemistry 20 and Physics 20, so it is the last science course that everyone takes together — which is also why it covers chemistry, physics, biology and earth science in one year rather than going deep in any of them.
