The dog ran fast. / Where is my hat? / Look at that! (a full stop is fine too) / We went to the park. / I like my new book. Note that I is always a capital.
Reading aloud is the trick. A question ends with the voice going up, which is easier for a six-year-old to hear than to reason about.
