Find a page of real information — a leaflet, a cereal box, a page about an animal — and use it to fill this in. Information texts are not read from the beginning like a story, and noticing that is the point.

Headings, pictures and captions carry meaning in an information text and can be read in any order. A child who starts at the top left and reads every word is using a story strategy on a different kind of text.
