Unit 3
Unit 3: Devices and language
Naming the technique is the easy half. The unit is really about saying what a device does to a reader, and why the writer chose that one.
Unit 4
Unit 4: Reading poetry
Why the line breaks where it does, what a stanza is for, how rhythm and sound carry meaning, and a method for a poem you have never seen before.
Unit 5
Unit 5: The personal response to texts
An assignment that looks open and is not: what the prompt is actually asking, how to choose a form you can control, and what the marker is looking for.
