Is it credible?
Trust a lot: Canada's Food Guide, a school nurse or doctor. Check first: the drink label (the facts on it are regulated, the claims on the front are advertising), a friend. Be careful: the athlete selling vitamins and the cereal advertisement — both are selling the thing they are praising. Half the plate should be vegetables and fruits.
“Are they selling something?” is the question that does most of the work, and it transfers to every other kind of information a child will ever meet.
