A = −8; B = −3; C = 2; D = −6; E = 5. −4 > −9, −12 < 3, −15 < −11, 7 > −7. −5 + 8 = 3, −3 + (−4) = −7, 6 + (−6) = 0, −9 + 2 = −7; 4 − 9 = −5, −2 − 5 = −7. −20, −14, −2, 0, 3, 8. Noon: −6 + 10 = 4 °C.

−15 < −11 is the one to watch: 15 is bigger than 11, so it feels wrong. For adding, Alberta's Grade 6 outcome uses zero pairs: −5 + 8 is five negatives cancelling five of the positives, leaving 3.
