About this course
Grade 7 English has no set text list, so these units are organized around what you are asked to do. The first four are about reading — stories, poems, nonfiction and media — and the last three are about writing: getting sentences right, telling a story, and building a paragraph that explains or persuades.
There is no provincial test in Grade 7. But the habits here are the ones the Grade 9 achievement test checks: going back to the text for evidence, working out what a word or image means, and writing with a clear plan.
Because you choose what you read in class, nothing here depends on a particular novel or play, and every passage in the questions was written for this site. Outcomes come from Alberta Education's English Language Arts Kindergarten to Grade 9 Program of Studies.
