About this course
Alberta's Science 7 has five units, and they are used here exactly as they are: interactions and ecosystems; plants for food and fibre; heat and temperature; structures and forces; and planet Earth.
Each unit has a different emphasis. Ecosystems and heat are about science and society — the choices people make and what follows from them. Plants and structures are about technology — designing, testing and improving. Planet Earth is about how scientists know what they know, from rock layers to fossils. That is why many questions here give you a situation or a small experiment to reason about rather than a fact to recall.
There is no provincial test in Grade 7. Science 8 and 9 build on this, and the Grade 9 achievement test is 60% reasoning of exactly this kind.
